Ria Formosa Natural Park
The Parque Natural da Ria Formosa was created in 1987 (December 9) and further regulated in 1991. It extends along 60km of coast along the Eastern Algarve. A wet zone of international importance, the Ria Formosa estuary, is a labyrinth of wetland, salt pans, creeks and dune islands (ilhas). It has two freshwater lakes that are a vital habitat to migrating birds and sea horses, as well as some rare wetland birds and even the Mediterranean chameleon.

Is a traditional fishing village set on the edge of the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, with a permanent population of around 2.100. It has a lagoon beach with views to the long "ilha"(sandbank island) that skirts the coastline. The  Resort is set about 10 minutes’ walk, West  from the village’s amenities. The centre is made up of a number of small squares typical to the area. Most of the cafes and restaurants sell traditional Algarvean seafood specialities such as cataplana and caldeirada fish stews - the fish coming from the local river, lagoon and nearby sea that day.

There is also a regular local market every Thursday. Fuzeta has regular boat services running from the quay taking people out to the ocean beaches and the ilha. The journey takes about five minutes. The ilha has excellent, safe beaches and the waters are perfect for a variety of sports including canoeing, windsurfing, sailing and diving. There are 3 golf courses within 15km of the village. Fuseta is extremely well connected. It is close to the main routes N125 and A22 which snakes through the area, making it easy to travel around and explore. Faro international airport is just 18km away. You can fly there and be in Fuseta within half an hour. The nearby railway station runs a regular service along the Algarve coast connecting with Faro and Tavira. Just 8km west is Olhão, a small town with all facilities and famous for its fish restaurants. Going 13km east will take you to Tavira, a historic town of elegant gothic and renaissance churches, cobblestone streets, pretty squares and a historic Roman bridge. It is the local cultural centre with theatres and festivals.
